Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. She has released over 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk and alternative rock but also has elements of punk, funk, hip beat and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers to establish her own label 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was her parents Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had met while attending an institution called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian descent, and her mother hails from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and sang the track 32 Flavors. The track is part of her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was her sixth studio album. A version of the song can be heard on the film Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized to host a seminar in Louisiana in an old plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, but the majority of people (including this piece) didn't detect remorse. DiFranco issued a further apology days later. She is known for her Little Folksinger music, but she's collaborated with many music genres, from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is a friend of Kristen Ford. At 14, she began to write her own music. The songs she performed at coffee houses and bars throughout her teenage years. DiFranco graduated from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school at 16 and started attending the classes of Buffalo State College.
